you know the song:
and the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
little boy blue and the man in the moon
when you comin' home dad?
i don't know when, but we'll get together then son
you know we'll have a good time then
my son turned ten just the other day
he said, "thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play
can you teach me to throw," i said, "not today
i got a lot to do," he said, "that's ok"
and he walked away but his smile never dimmed
and said, "i'm gonna be like him, yeah
you know i'm gonna be like him"
i listened to that song on the way home from the wedding last night and decided to have our first, of many, "cat's in the cradle" day! i spend so much time working that i tend to put my kids second! today was for them. it started late because i am still under the weather and had some shopping to do. i went to target, bought them each a new swim suit and a new towel! then we headed out to mcdonalds, then went to the water park for a picnic lunch and some fun water time!
we played tag for a little bit
we played with mermaids
and i lounged in the sun and listened to my i·pod for a bit! it was much more relaxing to listen to the i·pod here than at the gym!
and, of course, i took a bunch of pictures!
unfortunately, our day was cut short because poor steven started coughing so hard he threw up! back to reality!
we will try a, "cat's in the cradle" day again...real soon!
and, don't forget the traveling flip flops!
